Journey Started
My name is James Immanuel, and I come from Nashik, Maharashtra, a city known for its vineyards but also home to a dream that refused to stay hidden.
My journey began over 17 years ago when hip-hop culture first inspired me. Back in 2005, things were very different. There were no dance studios, no professional mentors, and very limited access to the internet. I would save ₹15 just to spend one hour at a local cyber café, watching international dance videos on YouTube at a slow 56 kbps speed. Every video became a lesson, every move became a challenge, and every day became an opportunity to learn.
With no proper training facilities, I practiced in public gardens, streets, and open spaces. Alongside dance, I trained in martial arts, which taught me discipline, focus, and resilience. What started as a passion soon became a mission.
In 2008, I stepped into the underground battle scene across Maharashtra. I traveled, competed, learned, and evolved. Every battle helped me sharpen my skills and develop my own unique style. Over time, I became recognized as one of Nashik's finest B-Boys and one of the pioneers who helped establish and promote hip-hop culture in the city.
My journey was never limited to one style. I trained myself in various dance forms, constantly exploring and pushing my limits. As responsibilities towards my family grew, I began teaching dance in schools. My first earning from dance was just ₹200 for choreographing a school annual function. That small amount wasn't just money — it was proof that my passion could become my profession.
In 2012, I founded my dance crew, James & Crew (JNC). Together, we represented Nashik at numerous national and international competitions and performances, winning recognition and inspiring the next generation of dancers.
A major turning point came in 2013 when I started working professionally with AND-I. Under the guidance of Atul Narang, I developed not only as a performer but also as an educator. His mentorship helped shape my approach to teaching, and I continue to proudly work with AND-I today.
Throughout my career, I have performed in over 2,000 shows and competitions across India. I have trained and mentored countless young dancers, many of whom have gone on to perform on television platforms such as Maharashtra Dancing Superstar and MAD (Manjhe Asel Dancer).
One of my proudest achievements came in 2019 when I earned four world records, proving that dedication and consistency can turn dreams into reality.
Over the years, I have judged numerous dance competitions and worked on several reality-show projects. I also had the honor of choreographing the television reality show Baal Kala Avishkar, organized by Kalabramanti Sanstha.
Today, my journey continues. I am not just a dancer — I am a teacher, choreographer, mentor, and ambassador of hip-hop culture. From practicing on the streets of Nashik to performing on national stages, every challenge has made me stronger.
This reality show is not just another platform for me. It is an opportunity to represent every dreamer who started with nothing but passion, determination, and belief. My story proves that no matter where you come from, if you keep learning, keep fighting, and keep believing in yourself, your dreams can become reality.
"I started on the streets, learned from a cyber café, built my own path, and today I stand here ready to inspire the world through dance."
